United Kingdom is an island country spanning an archipelago including Great Britain, located in Western Europe comprising England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. United Kingdom is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel, and the Irish Sea. Foreigners who wish to enter the UK for visit or business purpose must obtain the visa in advance unless they are exempt. The UK is a member of the European Union, but it has an opt-out from the Schengen border-free area. It operates its own visa policy and also maintains the Common Travel Area with the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Visa policy of the United Kingdom is similar to the visa policy of the Schengen Area. It grants visa-free for for certain period of time depanding on their nationalities. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months to visit the UK.

LIST OF COUNTRIES ARE EXEMPTED FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM VISA

Citizen of the following countries can enter the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man without a visa:

British Nationals who are European Union citizens:

British citizens;
British Overseas Territories citizens deriving their statuses from Gibraltar;
British subjects with the right of abode in the United Kingdom.

Citizens of Commonwealth countries who have the right of abode in the United Kingdom under the Immigration Act 1971;

All European Union citizens;
Citizens of EFTA member states.

Citizens of countries are allowed a maximum stay of 06 months (or 03 months if they enter from the Republic of Ireland):

British Nationals who are not European Union citizens:
British Overseas Territories citizens not deriving their statuses from Gibraltar;
British Nationals (Overseas);
British Overseas citizens;
British protected persons;
British subjects without the right of abode in the United Kingdom.

Europe: Andorra, Monaco, San Marino.

Asia: Brunei, East Timor, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan.

Africa: Botswana, Botswana, Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles.

Oceania: Australia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

America: Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominica, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America, Uruguay, Vatican City.

TYPES OF UNITED KINGDOM VISA

Visitor visas

Standard Visitor visa;
Marriage Visitor visa;
Permitted Paid Engagement visa;
Parent of a Tier 4 child visa;
Visa to pass through the UK in transit: Direct Airside Transit visa and Visitor in Transit visa.

Work visas

Tier 1 visa:

Entrepreneur (minimum £200,000 investment or £50,000 if qualified);
Exceptional Talent (recognised leader in fields of science, humanities, engineering, medicine, digital technology or the arts);
General (highly skilled workers, writers, composers or artists and self-employed lawyers);

Tier 2 visa (sponsored workers):

Intra-company Transfer – Longterm staff;
Intra-company Transfer – Graduate trainee;
Minister of Religion;
Sportsperson.

Tier 5 visa (temporary work for sponsored workers):

Charity Worker (unpaid voluntary work);
Creative and sporting;
Government Authorised Exchange;
International Agreement;
Religious Worker;
Youth Mobility Scheme.

Domestic Workers in a Private Household visa (cleaners, chauffeurs, cooks, personal care providers and nannies);

Representative of an Overseas Business visa (head of a UK branch or a foreign journalist on a long-term posting);

Turkish Businessperson visa;

Turkish Worker visa;

UK Ancestry visa (Commonwealth citizens with UK born ancestors);

Croatian national registration certificates.

Student visas

Short-term study visa;
Tier 4 student visa: General and Child.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR UNITED KINGDOM VISA APPLICATION

All visitors to United Kingdom must submit:

Application form signed by the applicant.
Original passport valid for at least 06 months from the date of entry into United Kingdom and still has blank pages and the expired passport (if any);
03 photos white background, size 3,5 cm X 4,5 cm size, must be taken within the last 6 months;
A copy of Vietname temporary residence card, work permit applied for foreigner working in Vietnam;
Notarized true copy of National Identity Card;
Notarized true copy of Household Registration Book;
Notarized true copy of Marriage Certificate (if any);
Notorized true copy of Birth Certificate;
Proof of financial stranding:
- Notarized true copies of any asset ownership certificates (such as house and land);
- Bank statement within the last 06 months;
- Bank book (if any)
- Credit card (American Express, Visa Card, Master Card).
Proof of social and professional status:
- For business owner: Notarized true copy of Business Registration Certification + Income tax return within the last 06 months + Bank statement within the last 06 months;
- For employee: Labor contract + Letter of business decision/ Leave Application form + Pay slips within the last 03 months;
- For retiree: Notarized true copy of Retirement card/ book + Health insurance card/ Social insurance book (if any);
- For student: Student card + Letter from University or School + Transcript.

For business purpose, providing the following documents

Company in United Kingdom

Original invitation letter from associated partners/companies in United Kingdom indicating the invitee’s name, position, length of employment and purpose of visit(s) to United Kingdom;
Business registration certificate of the company in UK;
Bank statements;
Financial consent letter;
Proof of commercial relationship between 02 company (Purchase contract, Sale contract...);
A passport scanned copy of inviter (If any);

Company in Vietnam

Business registration and Business license, Certificate of Tax Payment;
Bank account balance or saving bank account statement;
A letter of business decision from a company in Vietnam indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment and purpose of visit(s) to United Kingdom;

For tourism purpose, providing the following documents:

Travel detail;
Confirmation of the hotel reservation;
Confirmation of the return air-ticket.

VALIDITY OF VISA

UK standard visa is valid for single-entry and the duration of stay is up to 06 months.

PROCESSING TIME

The visa processing time is from 3-6 weeks.
