  • If the foreigner’s Work Permit is still valid for more than 1 year, apply for a new TRC according to the term of the GPLD.
  • If the foreigner’s Work Permit at the time of passport renewal is valid for less than 1 year, you can only apply for a new VISA multiple times.

In case the foreigner is abroad and they change their passport there, there is only one option: Reapply for a new pre-visa approval letter according to the time limit of the GPLD but not exceeding 1 year to get a new visa.

Submitting the dossier:

Agencies, organizations and individuals shall submit the dossier at the three major Immigration Departments of the Ministry of Public Security located in all 3 of the major regions of Vietnam – North, Center and South OR any Immigration Division of provincial police

Receiving the result:

The person who comes to receive the result shall present the receipt, the identity card or passport to the officers handing over the result for examination. If a temporary residence card is issued, the officers will ask that person to pay fees, sign for receipt and hand over the temporary residence card (informing that person of the result in case the temporary residence card is not issued).

  • Processing time: within 07 working days from the date of receipt of the dossier.
