Option 1:
Apply for a Vietnam visa at the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in the home country

  • Sri Lankan citizens can apply for a Vietnam visa directly in their home country or in a country with a Vietnamese diplomatic representative agency, such as the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate.
  • This option requires foreigners to prepare their own documents in accordance with the requirements of the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate, pay the visa stamping fee, wait, and even pay for expensive travel costs to the city having a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate.
  • However, this option guarantees a high level of safety because the applicant already has a Vietnamese visa stamped on their passport.

Option 2:
Apply for a Vietnam visa in Vietnam through the sponsored business or travel companies operating legally in Vietnam

 ► Step 1: Obtaining a Vietnam Pre-Visa Approval Letter

  1. Sponsored unit: company registered and legally operating in Vietnam;
  2. The content of the entry dispatch approved by the Immigration Management Agency includes: information about the individual, organization, or enterprise inviting to sponsor the foreigner; personal information of the foreigner; the entry period for foreigners entering Vietnam; and locations to receive Vietnam visas.

 ► Step 2: Receive Vietnam visa: After obtaining the pre-visa approval letter, foreigners can get their Vietnam visa stamped at one of the following places:

  1. At the Embassy of Vietnam in Sri Lanka or the Vietnam Embassy or Consulate in other countries.

Option 3:

Apply for an electronic Vietnam visa (E-visa).

  • From August 15, 2023, foreigners applying for a Vietnam E-Visa can apply for a new visa for tourism, business, or visiting relatives for up to 3 months -single or multiple entries.
  • Vietnam E-Visas are currently not allowed to be extended. Therefore, visitors must carefully record the length of their stay on the granted visa in order to schedule an exit or apply for a new visa and combine it with services Visa Run if you want to stay longer in Vietnam without having to return home.

 

PROCEDURES FOR APPLYING FOR A VIETNAM VISA FOR SRI LANKA VISITORS

Step 1: Obtaining a Vietnam Pre-Visa Approval Letter

To have complete information to apply for an entry letter, foreigners must provide the information below, and the sponsoring unit in Vietnam must prepare the following documents:

  1. Scan the passport of the person applying for a Vietnam visa.
  2. Confirm the expected date of entry into Vietnam.
  3. Confirm the place to receive a Vietnam visa, you can choose one of the following:
  • Embassy or Consulate of Vietnam abroad
  • Name of Vietnam's international land border gate
  • Vietnam's international airport names are Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, or Phu Quoc.
  • Notarized copy of business registration, investment certificate, or representative office establishment license, seal registration certificate, and tax registration certificate;
  1. Forms for entry documents are signed and stamped by the company's legal representative.

Step 2: Get Vietnam Visa At:

  • ​Vietnam Embassy/Consulate General
  • Vietnam International Airports
  • Vietnam International Border Gates
  1. Original passport valid for more than 6 months and must have at least 2 blank pages
  2. 2 photos sized 4x6 cm with white background
  3. Print the pre-visa approval letter issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department, print all pages
  4. Fill out the enter and exit Vietnam form.
  5. Prepare visa stamping fee according to regulations of the Ministry of Finance:
    + Single entry visa: 25USD/visa
    + Multiple entry visa valid up to 90 days: 50USD/visa
    + Multiple entry visa with a visa valid for over 90 days to 180 days: 95USD/visa
    + Multiple-entry visa with a visa valid for over 180 days to 365 days: 135USD/visa

 

COUNTRIES ARE EXEMPT FROM THE VIETNAM VISA AND EXEMPTION PERIOD

Except for nationals of countries exempt from visa requirements, the citizens of the remaining countries must apply for a visa at the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in the country where they currently reside or obtain a visa to Vietnam at Vietnam's international airports. According to Resolution 128/NQ-CP, which takes effect on August 15, 2023 (Revision Article 1 Resolution no. 32/NQ-CP, March 15, 2022), the following countries are entitled to waive Vietnam visas for citizens of certain countries:
